A YOUNG environmental crusader from Warrandyte will be part of a national climate change summit being held by future leaders.

Tim Hall, 19, will travel to Sydney this month to attend the Power Shift summit, a national gathering of young people to discuss climate change.

Organised by the Australian Youth Climate Coalition, the conference aims to create a clear plan of action on climate change and tackle important environmental issues.

Mr Hall said the event was about showing young people they had the power to make a difference.

“Sometimes with such a large global issue people can feel powerless, this meeting is about empowering them with ideas and giving the motivation to make a change,” Mr Hall said.

The University of Melbourne student will be representing Change&Switch;- a non-profit organisation interested in environmental and social justice issues.

Mr Hall said he was particularly interested in addressing issues relating to water conservation.

“I think low water supplies are going to be a major issue confronting future generations and it is important to get young people talking about it,” he said.
